I'm Back!!!

So I am not so good at maintaining this Blog, but I plan on doing a better job!  I have been super busy with my sewing and have missed sharing what I am up to.

We as a family have been making a number of changes in our home which has required my attention.
We are going to join the homeschooling ranks with our son next year. I am completely TERRIFIED and hope I don't mess him up.  He is going into the 5th grade and we are so disturbed my public school that we are going to bring him home so he can feel successful.  He is super smart but struggles with Dyslexia.  I hate it for him and wish school was more enjoyable but there are too many politics instead of teaching.

I'm stepping off my soap box...

Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

Will have some projects posted soon!

A Minty Treat

Grinch Cookies
A Twist on Sugar Cookies With a Hint of Mint

With just these few ingredients you are going to make a treat that will NOT make it to the cookie jar!

Since it's baking season, I have been searching the internet,
well, huh-hum, Pinteres,t and came across a simple recipe.
After tweaking it a bit, here is the result...

Ingredients
1 Pouch (1 lb 1.5oz) Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix
1 Stick of Butter room temperature (very important)
1/2 Teaspoon of Mint Extract
14(YES!) Drops of Green Food Coloring
1 Egg
1 Cup Andes Mint Chips or Mint M & M's
1 Cup Semisweet Chocolate Chips

Preheat Oven to 350
Combine all ingredients to make the dough

Fold in the Chips and Mints/M&Ms

Spoon onto Cookie Sheet
Bake 8-10 Minutes (Ovens vary so may take more/less time)

These Photos do not do the green color justice!
They are SUPER yummy right out of the oven!
I'm a Fan of Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream and this cookie form!

Enjoy!
If you Make Any Variations I Would Love to Hear!!

Pinteresting Touches

Pinteresting Touches for
Christmas!

I don't know how I have lived without Pinterest!
Kinda like I don't know how I lived,or went to school, without Google!

Anyway, I just added some Christmas Printables around the house to add a little extra. It was fun, easy and added a little more Christmas to my home. The above is one wall of my foyer.

I must make a disclosure here...We LIVE in our home, which is why we call it a HOME! It's not a show house by any means (I laugh out loud!) but it's a perpetual project which is why I have an ECLECTIC HEART. I love all things old, odd, unique and sentimental. So be warned if you happen to see something quirky, Yes, I know it's there and I DO like it!

I love glass jars, especially this Apothecary Jar filled with purple glitter ornaments and silver beads

The print is from here and it's FREE!
The sheep lamp my husband made for me and the Rabbit is from a Decorator Show Home Sale ($2).

This is a wall I usually have bird prints but I replaced them with these Subway wall art of Christmas Songs found here.
The Cross my husband made from repurposed wood! Love it!!

Our tree sits in front of the pictures and I think it adds to it.
Disclosure again...I am not a photographer but will work on it!

Just a little vinette on my buffet.
Got the print from Pinterest as well.

These are shelves my husband made from pallets for me.
He IS so handy!! I also have a cross he made from reclaimed wood  sitting behind another print from here.
You can also see our Elves, Murray Christmas and Glitter.

I guess I may have gone a little crazy with the free printables but I enjoy them around. The phrases make me smile and keep the focus on this special season!

Thanks for checking me out and I love comments and suggestions!

Yummy Pumpkin Poppers

Pumpkin Poppers
...Yummy!!!!

This is totally a Pinterest PASS!!

Don't they look divine?? Well, they are!!
I found the recipe at Domestically Speaking Blog...

Pumpkin Poppers

Popper:
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/8 teaspoons ground cloves
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 pumpkin (fresh or canned, just not pumpkin pie filling)
1/2 cup low-fat milk
For Coating
1 stick of unsalted butter, melted
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons cinnamon

Preheat your oven to 350 and spray your muffin pans.
Combine all the dry ingredients in one bowl and whisk till combined.

In another bowl, mix together the oil, brown sugar, egg, vanilla, pumpkin and milk.
Pour the dry ingredients into the wet and mix till it’s just combined (you don’t want to over mix).

Fill your mini tins till almost full.

Bake for 10-12 minutes.
While they’re baking, melt your butter and in a small bowl combine your sugar and cinnamon.

Let the poppers cool for a few minutes before rolling them around in the melted butter and then plunging them into their cinnamon sugar bath.

Yummy Goodness Even Without the Sugar Bath!!
(I took a bite outta one, couldn't resist!!)
If you want less sugary sweetness you could just dip the top of the muffin into the butter & cinnamon sugar.
They look and taste like a pumpkin donut hole… YUMMY!!
They go great with a cup of coffee or cocoa!
Pumpkin isn't just for Fall, but goes great on any holiday snack tray.

I rate this an easy recipe!  Pinterest Pass!!
Don't hesitate to share other variations!

High Waisted Skirt Tutorial

I Don't Have Anything to Wear!!

I'm sure I not the only one who has screamed this almost daily!

Well, thanks to Pinterest I was able to whip something up for a wedding this past Saturday.  I am going to show you the links as well as the steps I took to complete this FABULOUS skirt.

HIgh waisted sash skirt

Her Tutorial was so easy to follow that I made this skirt in about 2 1/2 hours!
The Big Oak Tree is the Blog and the instructions are super easy!
Hope you will try one too!

I first selected the fabric from Hobby Lobby below...

Since this was for a wedding I loved the classic look of the fabric and let's face it, you can't go wrong with Black and White.

Next, I cut everything out.  Since it is all measurements it was quick instead of dealing with pattern pieces..

I first pressed the belt seams

I successfully did this without burning my fingers (If you know me you know how rare that is!)

Next, I stitched and serged seams together

I serged and stitched the hem...

OK, attaching the skirt to the waistband was super easy.  I made my skirt a little fuller than hers because I felt it was more formal.  Now she offers some tricks to ruffle the fabric, but I just tuck and pin and try to be as balanced all the way around as possible.

Now to attach the zipper without chewing the fabric...I cannot believe I was even successful at this but it turned out great (if I do say so myself)

Her steps were so easy to follow!!

Looks professional!! Can you tell I am amazed that I did that??

Now it's time to make the sash...

After stitching both pieces together, I folded, stitched and turned to complete.

Here it is!!!

Of course pictures do not give this fabric justice!
I wore with a black turtle neck tucked in and black boots!

Hope you attempt!
Pinterest Success!!!

Is She For Real??

Is She For Real?

Am I the only one who struggles with the vision of the Proverbs 31 Woman?
I sat down this morning and Googled,
(as you get to know me you will realize how much I Heart Google!!),
Images of what she might look like...Here are some of the pictures:

As I looked through pages of images, I noticed she does not have a face.  I guess that is purposeful as we all strive to meet some of her attributes.

OK, I know it is a poem!  But, do you know it even references EXERCISE!!

UGH!!!!

I have finally found a study I am so excited to do:

I am sooo excited to start this study I can hardly contain myself!!
How Does she do it?
Does he help at all?
Did she ever sleep?
Is she for real????

I am hoping to post some of our findings and discoveries at this study progresses.  Feel free to follow along.  We will get started next week!
You have already done this study??  I would HEART feedback!

Such Fun!!
